Review: Probing, Cycle Three of the Harbingers Series

This is the first book I've read in the Harbinger Series. The book contains four stories, each by a different author, yet linked together by the cumulative experiences of members of a unique team. Each author writes from the perspective of a different team member, and the resulting book is a very original piece of Christian entertainment. Each story is short enough to read through quickly during the ride home on the subway, while waiting to pick up your kids from dress rehearsal or just in the evening before bed. The four short stories included in Probingare:

Review: Keto Slow Cooker & One Pot Meals by Martina Slajerova

Wow! Keto Slow Cooker & One-Pot Meal is packed full of lucious looking recipes for those who are on the Keto diet. But this cookbook is more than just a Keto diet book, though it does explain the premise of the diet and guide readers toward healthier living, it's also for those who eat low-carb and gluten free.

Review: The Whispering Room by Dean Koontz

Another hit book by master writer Dean Koontz!

In The Whispering Room, former FBI agent Jane Hawk is in a battle for her life and the life of her son. A powerful group has begun their plan to make the world over, into something that they've designed, using nanotechnology to bend people to their will. They've begun to exterminate people whom they deem a threat. But some people prove useful if enslaved, and the group would like nothing more than to force Jane to this fate.

What Makes Harry Potter So Great?

There are books about wizards, and books about boys, and books about school, magic, witches and more. But are any of these books as memorable as the Harry Potterseries? No? Why do you suppose that is?

For me, its the truly outstanding depth of character that Rowling creates for each major character and most minor characters as well. And truthfully, its also about Hermione's beaded bag that will hold just about anything- and similar gadgets and magical artifacts like it. (I really, really want one of those bags!!)

Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley are some of the most memorable characters that I've ever read about. Sure, there's a whole lot of memorable characters out there, but, off the top of my head, I have to admit I don't always remember their first and last names, their physical description (who can forget Harry's scar, Hermione's bushy hair or Ron's freckles?), or their character traits. Can you say differently? I'll bet you can't.

And, well, then there's the fact that Harry Potter has his own attraction in an amusement park: Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I don't know about you, but we NEED more book characters as memorable as Harry Potter. So, JK, please get back to writing...

An all-new series with an all-new hero! Sam Stone will take your breath away.

Deep down, six hundred and forty feet underground, danger lurks...

Jenny Strafford and her fiance, Stone, are out for a dinner date with friends. It’s supposed to be fun, romantic even, but the setting leaves much to be desired, at least for Jenny. She’s not fond of enclosed spaces, or being underground.

What starts out as a fun evening soon turns into a dangerous struggle to survive.

In order to protect Jenny, Stone must fall back on his military police training. And even those hard-won skills may not be enough to save the love of his life - and over a hundred other innocent people trapped underground with them.

Excerpts

Ahead, the tunnel funneled into a smaller area where the visitors to the museum were to wait for their turn to board the lift. There was no outlet there. Once they went into that area, the tunnel that they now crept down would be at their backs, and it would be their only avenue of escape, other than going up to the surface in the lift.

The gooseflesh upon her arms grew larger and she shivered in dread. She longed to tell Stone to be careful, but the words froze in her throat for fear that anyone guarding the lift would hear her.

She looked down at the gun in her hand and double-checked the safety to make sure it was off. She had the nervous urge to pull back the slide and view the bullet in the chamber again, just to make sure that she hadn’t imagined the first time she’d done it. Her hands felt clammy with nerves, so she carefully wiped one and then the other on her jean clad thighs to dry them, palming the gun in the opposite hand as she dried each one.

Behind them, an agonized scream erupted from the dining cavern. The raw sound of pain sent an icy blade of dread skittering down Jenny’s back. She glanced back toward the cavern. Stone turned too, and in that moment, their adversaries struck.
